She'd only met him once before. It was an odd chance meeting, her showing some of her work at the same studio he'd been shooting for the magazine he was contracted with. It'd be an odd run in and she admired the way his photographs had come out. He told her he found her art inspiring. Giving him her number - and Twitter - hadn't seemed too far out of the question or too intrusive. She wanted to see his work, since he'd seen enough of hers.

Fenris had been kind enough to link his Instagram to her, and she saw the myriad of shots he took from his phone, all stunning and perfectly lit, even with his phone. He had talent, she could see it right away. Carver would agree with her, too, if he wasn't abroad visiting his pen pal Merrill. She felt a little obsessed with his work, the way she'd been texting Carver about it. Not many could hold up to her standards - or her brother's talent, frankly - but Fenris had an eye for art. She appreciated it, and his comments on her feed when she posted her designs.

It hadn't seemed too presumptuous to offer that he come to the studio and get easier access to what she had to offer. She was working on her work for the spring now while everyone was fixated with her Fall/Winter line. It'd give Fenris an edge in his field, she realized, but truth be told...she was more eager to see him again and to talk. He seemed nice, if quiet, and she liked his style. She wanted to know more about it.

Bethany was working on pinning one of her dresses to the model when she heard her assistant, Miri, chatting with Fenris. She turned with a smile. "Glad you could make it. Sorry about the...um, odd request, but I thought you could come visit, since you were talking about what your next project would be."

He grinned at her easily, the staple smile he kept for public settings masking his anxiety, for the invitation, for the chance to see her again.

"Not at all. I'm grateful for the opportunity. It's not often someone with your skill offers one in my position such a chance." Adjusting the strap of his camera bag, he nodded politely toward Miri and stepped further into the studio.

The dress was warm and lit up the room. Even with the cool, autumn air seeping in from the windows, there was an indescribable warmth to it that Fenris couldn't shake, a nice, comforting simplicity, refreshing as much as it is contemporary. Something rare, he felt, modern couture tending toward skirting extremes.

It seemed somewhat familiar, so he decided to ask, "Was this one of the sketches you showed me the other day? The resulting work, I mean."

She chuckled lightly. "You're being modest. I've seen your art, you know. It's fantastic. Besides, if it's one thing I've learned work in the business, it's making connections counts." Carver would say the same, grumping along the way. But he knew the importance of finding people that pushed the boundaries of your art while respecting your integrity as an artist. That's why Bethany went into business with Carver, after all; who knew her best, respected her more, than her twin brother?

Besides, he and Fenris had similar, distinctive eyes for the colors and cut she had for her clothes. He pointed out things the last time they'd spoken that she hadn't thought were so different.

With a nod, Bethany smiled. "I'd been working on it for a few weeks. I was hoping to have one of the models I work with try it but she's been out all week with a cold, poor thing. I figured I'd take the time to make sure it looked right." It was a little different. It wasn't the black and white so commonly seen on the runway these days. Bethany liked color, and strove to use it as much as possible.

"I was working on something you had pointed out to me," she said, moving to the tablet she had on the table. A few swipes of her finger and the press of the button, and she moved to hand it to him. "You were talking about the edges of the train, right? You said it looked almost too...straight. It didn't have any flair. I tried to create a billowing effect, so no matter what motion the model's in, it'll look like the dress is flowing."
